i remember my first trip to london, when i was 9-years-old, i was astounded by the large, cathedral like department stores. the ones that stuck out to me the most were harvey nichols and liberty - still among my favorites today. at that time, a mall to me was the sherman oaks galleria - retrospectively, a suburban hell stuck in the middle of los angeles, that would be the ideal for Mall USA (making appearances in valley girl and fast times at ridgemont high. anyways, i'm going off on quite a tangent, but my point is - liberty offered something very different to what i had been accustomed to, and i still latch on to that memory - and my first introductions to liberty prints and vivienne westwood (a truly memorable experience for a budding design enthusiast).
seems stateside we're finally getting the liberty fever, with target and mac both slated for collaborations coming out in the next week and a half, (march 14 and march 11th, respectively). seems about right, not long ago, hermes even created a range with liberty. target's collaboration includes everything from household items like melamine plates and candles, to bikes, umbrellas, ties, and stationary. i don't know about you, but i'm all about this floral invasion
