New Years Eve

JANUARY.

2010 was started off exactly like I wanted it to - in my apartment with all of my best friends... and an amazing pair of shoes. Visiting Coney Island and Brighton Beach in the dead of winter. Lots of stacked jewelry and late brunches and flowers to subdue the pain of winter. An incredibly successful birthday for a significant other. Too many desserts; more than the holiday season would ever warrant.

FEBRUARY.

The death of one of my fashion heroes, Alexander McQueen. Blizzards and snowstorms and hail, oh my! Falling in love with my new favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Valentines day. A real valentines day. Bouts of fluish-ness. Local Brooklyn fare - like ricotta and pickles and chocolates from liddabit. A lovely house party with violet-chocolate cupcakes. Dita Von Teese all up in my bookshelf. Buckled boots.

MARCH.

A trip with the love to Berlin. Parties in Mitte filled from floor to ceiling with heart-shaped balloons. Doner kebabs! Bike rides throughout Tiergarten - and the rest of Berlin. Glittery shoes and faux tattoos. Jonathan Adler custom pillows and liberty of london for mac and other lovely things. A welcomed introduction to little Edie.

APRIL.

A month-long celebration of my birthday, with lots of self-gifting. Many, many weekend excursions to "other Brooklyn" to visit the flea. The famous (or infamous?) kitten heels. Florence and the Machine at Terminal 5. My 24th birthday. Celebrating the evening of my birthday (albeit, with an intense cold) at the American High Style opening at the Brooklyn Museum. Having my photo taken by Bill Cunningham. A low-key party. The beginning of spring.

MAY.

Seeing The Gossip at Terminal Five. A mini pit-stop in Los Angeles to fill up at Bottega Louie and Paulette and Sprinkles. My best friend Devin's art gallery opening in nyc. The beginning of my freelance career with Vogue Italia. An absolutely incredible trip to Tokyo. The Mori Art Museum - for an incredible japanese take on contemporary art.

JUNE.

More time in Japan. Walking through the ancient streets of Kyoto and feeding deer in Nara. The addition of what would be fall and winters most loved pair of shoes. A much needed reunion with a dear friend on the Lower East Side. Coney Island's Mermaid Parade. Visiting Christian Siriano's studio while he prepared for his upcoming fashion show. Too many hot, sweaty, humid days as summer took full effect. Seeing Goldfrapp with my friend Tara.

JULY.

The Jazz Age Lawn Party at Governor's Island. Old timey lesbians. More ridiculous statement shoes (are you noticing a pattern? Me too). Discovering new publications. Discovering new restaurants... conveniently located on my block. Backyard barbecues and pool parties. The YFF Conference! So many new and much needed female friends who can relate in a way that few others have before them. Craving fall too soon. An incredibly memorable lunch at Eleven Madison Park.

AUGUST.

Without a doubt, the most emotional, turbulent, and transformative month of the last year - though you wouldn't know it from the pictures. Major career moves. Trouble in paradise. Escapism. Little indulgences that served as retail therapy. Chanel's 31 Rue Cambon magazine. A trip to San Francisco. Sugar sweet sunshine candy floss and dim sum. Laying out for hours upon hours in Dolores Park.

SEPTEMBER.

Returning to NYC just in time for my friend Lizz's wedding, labor day weekend, and the start of Fashion Week. Many incredible, beautiful fashion shows and presentations. Princess dresses and fantasy. Fragrant baubles and glittering heels. Meeting and interviewing Beth Ditto in London. Being in London for London Fashion Week. Being in London, period. Mere feet away from Christopher Bailey's creations being sent down the catwalk. Matthew Williamson. Christopher Kane (and rubbing elbows with a certain Ms. Wintour). Henry Holland. Fashion East. Anya Hindmarch. Much time loitering around Sommerset House. Nicholas Kirkwood. Spending time in the best East London flat with Hadarrah.

OCTOBER.

Back to New York City for absolute Autumnal bliss. A trip to the Upper West Side for Central Park and the dinosaurs. Aimless walks while basking in the glory of fall. Chelsea art galleries with Hadarrah. Pink and bows and lace. Massive bouts of introspection.

NOVEMBER.

Yet another trip to Los Angeles, this time, with a boy in tow. Driving to the top of Sunset Plaza Drive for the most spectacular view of LA. Climbing to the top of the Hollywood hills to just almost reach the Hollywood sign. My first ever trip to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. Reveling in the glamor of burlesque. Spending too much time at home. Waking up far before dawn because I'm a fiend for fashion. My first ever non-familial Thanksgiving. Walking through Manhattan in the very late hours of the night to window shop.

DECEMBER.

New takes on Latkes for a much anticipated Hanukkah celebration. Surprise visits from Dad and glittery presents and perfectly bound books and sparkling wine. Prancing around in tutus. Writing love letters to plastic. Meeting and chatting with Lynn Yaeger on a train platform. Seeing one of my icons perform in Los Angeles. Flying across the globe to Indonesia. Holding a baby orangutan. Conversations with a 96-year-old medicine man. Fireworks on the beach. Sunburns.

All of that leading up to this very moment.

Have a very, very happy new year.

    money pay day loans
the nice thing about the website is it also may include private foundation grants and corporate giving programs in addition to government grants for women for girls.
