Road to Bali

I've been in Bali for almost a week now, traveling throughout the island, from its beaches to its mountains, feasting my eyes on all the incredible natural beauty in this place. I grew up so far removed from any real concept of "nature," and so wrapped up in first world privileges (and distractions), that sometimes it's hard to believe that places like this are real. It's absolutely stunning here.

Hope you're having a fabulous holiday season.
xx.

  14. Oh darling, these photos are simply stunning. I travelled to Bali myself a few years ago, and remember feeling exactly the same way - awestruck by the beauty and sheer force of nature there, and also slightly embarrassed by my preoccupation with materialistic (albeit beautiful) possessions back in my regular life. Definitely an enriching experience!

I hope you're having the most wonderful trip and holiday season!

  22. DC: Thank you so much! It's incredible special. If you ever get the opportunity to go, it's well worth the trip halfway across the globe.

Nik: Thank you dear!! Glad your holidays went well, too :)

    Monique: Thank you love!

Pinkbow: It's gorgeous! I'm so jealous you got to go to Barcelona, too!

S*: Thank you!! It was a great experience :)

Jiji: Thank you so much for your comment! I had no idea I had readers in Malaysia - wow!!

Julia: Come with me next time, please!! The baby elephant was 12 years old... SO adorable. I wanted to take him home!

E: It's an incredible place!! I'm really grateful I got the opportunity to go.

Thomessa: I'm INCREDIBLY lucky. But, does it make me completely insane to be just a little bit bummed that I missed the blizzard in NYC?

  23. Margot: Thank you dear!! Miss you.

Claudia: Thank you so much for your comment! I'll be doing a couple more posts about my experience in Bali, and that will definitely be included in the next ones :)

    Jennifer: Thank you love!

Eli: I was very lucky to go with my family - both my immediate family as well as my aunt, uncle, and their son. It was a great experience!

Briony: It really is an incredible comparison... Our way of life (which yes, is amazing, and I'm eternally grateful for) and the Balinese experience could not be more dissimilar. And really, the people there want for nothing. They're genuinely happy with their loves and what they have. It makes pouting over a pair of shoes seem really insane.

Sita: Thank you so much! This is the comment that meant the most to me. I think there's a lot of beauty in the "every day." I also dislike how a lot of travel photos or blogs only reflect the pretty or glamorous parts of a culture, and ignore some of the most fundamental parts of life. Those are the things that make different places unique and interesting to me.

Anika: Thank you darling!! I can't believe your sister was there too! I hope she had a great time :)

Eryn: Thank you! That is one of my favorites, too. You wouldn't believe the rain in Bali every day...

Thefatandskinnyonfashion: I said this above, but I must be crazy to be excited for the snow!

Kristin: Thank you so much!! I'm going to check your blog out too :)
