I cannot,
cannot even begin to articulate why and how much I'm HEAD OVER HEELS in love with the Christian Dior couture collection that came down a Parisian runway today. The collection is so Stepford Wife gone to the dark, dominating side of the Femme Fatale that I'm literally swooning over every single look. Or, maybe as Austin says, "It's like that movie
Far from Heaven, but on fancy crack." Please, John Galliano, allow me to Vogue on the streets of the Marais or have a ridiculous tea party at Versaille in an American mid-twentieth-century vision of a grown-up Alice in Wonderland. The red and black pieces are so intensely moody and
sexy, and I feel it's worth mentioning that I am not usually drawn to red! Like, genuinely sexy in a way that really, really speaks to me. I'm not going to continue to pontificate on the meanings of this collection because I'm pretty sure I won't do it any justice - so I'll just let the clothes speak for themselves.

Wow, these pieces are beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, and so on. The red is indeed sexy, it reminds me of Cruella Deville just without the long cigarette (wouldn't consider her sexy though, haha). There's something about the blue that I LOVE.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning. It is really sexy and I love the red lips!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I love about Dior. He does feminine architectural pieces that are like no other.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute perfection, flawless!

Wow. An amazing collection indeed. I thought the days of Christian Dior was over but with this cuture collection, I 'll take that back. I love every single piece. So feminine. Nikki thank you for sharing this. I love you even more for taking the time to show us these amazing designs. Great, varied and intersting blog.
ReplyDeleteDior New Look 2011!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are just gorgeous.
It's interesting because New Look originally came out after WWII and everyone was like "Yo, we don't have to ration fabric anymore, hurray!"
It's kinda like Dior's thinking now: "Hey, we are totally over this war and recession and whatnot, let's make it the 1950's again!"
And it's awesome.
About time!
I have a soft spot for Dior. My wedding gown was designed by Dior. So it is kind of like a first love, you will always go back. I love the vision of Galliano and I ABSOLUTELY adore the coffret the victoire jewelry collection
ReplyDeleteSam - good eye :) I also thought of the "new look." It's nice to see Galliano re-imagine it in Dior Couture terms.
ReplyDeleteOh wow those ARE amazing! I guess you'd expect nothing less from Dior.

Im going to the Venice Festival in March and this collection is now the entire inspiration for my dress! its heavenly.
ReplyDeleteDreamy. Daring. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, those colors are TO DIE FOR.... that sort of inbetween color - a little taupe, a little powder blue - reminds me of the Romeo Gigli fabrics I loved so much back in the 80s. And the NECKLINES - that asymmetrical cowl is gorgeous. There isn't a single one there that I wouldn't want to wear, the ballgowns are ethereal. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
