While I most certainly should have been doing half a million other things, I've started drifting off into day dreams of cities I've been to and wish to visit again. The winter in New York City was particularly long and unbearable this year, and now I'm even more anxious to get out and explore places outside of the 5-boroughs. I'm dreaming of
Iceland and
Stockholm and
Helsinki, and at the same time, reminiscing about the streets of Paris and the fresh sea air of the Italian coast and the pulse that beats through London.
I took a trip down memory lane and browsed through my own personal collection of travel photos, most of which pre-date this blog. It seemed appropriate to share!
P.S., I wanted to thank you all again for all your warm birthday wishes. It really overwhelmed me! ♥
You've been to some amazing places! I feel so stagnant in my smallish English city, that I'm even excited about leaving for a couple of days at my house in France next month, even just to another home for a change of scenery!
ReplyDeleteoh, summer in Helsinki is wonderful! i've lived here for the past three years, but i'm about to move to England... i'm so gonna miss this place (even tho i'm gonna come back for holidays etc. but it's not the same).
ReplyDeleteand oh the places you've visited! traveling is like a drug, the more you do it the more you need it.
You are so lucky to have gone to such gorgeous places. I hope you do get to go to Helsinki and Stockholm, they seem lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are killer, babe!
ReplyDeletePS. We'll have to chat London soon! I've never been and it's on the July calendar!
ReplyDeleteohhhhmygod everything is so gorgeous but those mini square sandwiches look SO good. The black and gold fence is breathtaking, where is that?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You are an amazing photographer!
ReplyDeleteThe sandwiches were crab club sandwiches from Laduree in London. I was really sad to see they were no longer on the menu, the last time I visited!! And the gates are outside of Buckingham Palace :)
ReplyDeleteI always love your photos! Now I'm missing Europe. Lol
ReplyDeletei LOVE the pictures, you are getting so good with cameras!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Alain

Don't you just love day dreaming ? I just got lost in your pictures. Paris and the Italian coast are my favorites.
ReplyDeletegosh, it's so nice to get out of your home sometimes, isn't it? it's wonderful to be reminded of the rest of the world, and see novel things and learn how others live.
ReplyDeletethanks for the opportunity to daydream in these photos :) they look so lush and inviting.
Your photos are absolutely stunning!! I can recommend Stockholm, been there last year, it is such a great city! Oh, I can't wait till my holiday comes when I see all your beautiful pictures!!
ReplyDeleteooh scandinavia, i have never been to scandinavia. those countries are giving me a very sophisticated vibe but they are a little bit too cool for me (and i mean this literally). i love the vibe of the Mediterranean, the smell of the flowers and the food is so breathtaking. what i love about paris, you can look and look and look and you will never ever get bored!! reminds me of the fact that i don't travel a lot anymore!!! your photos make me go ooohhh and aaah and telling me that Europe is such a diverse and beautiful place
ReplyDeleteFantastic pics.Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
you're making me have wanderlust too with those photos!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from a Finnish-Swedish reader :) I think you would love both Stockholm and Helsinki, especially in the summer! Those pictures you've taken during your earlier trips are truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteI know I've said it before, but I can't tell you how much I adore your photos in general - but I particularly love seeing the world through the lens of your dreamy vision. And oh my, that sunny Italian coast looks lovely right about now! I've also been dreaming about summer travels lately, reminiscing about past trips to Tokyo, Marrakech, New York, Paris and the beautiful azure waters of Australia, but also dreaming of discovering new places like the Greek Islands and Croatia and the Cinque Terre. Oh, for endless funds and holiday entitlement!
ReplyDeleteBriony xx
Gorgeous!! Can we go on vacation together?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is amazing! I've never been to Italy or anywhere like it near an ocean. But I will recommend Madrid. It was absolutely beautiful, you would love it! Even more so, I would highly recommend Stockholm. I've only visited once but I fell in love with it. Such a clean, safe, beautiful city with a super easy Metro. EVERYONE spoke english and dressed up. Take me with you please!
ReplyDeleteI'll be going to Mexico this summer and excited because last time I only went with a film camera, which was nice. But I want to go this time and be able to take thousands of photos!
that café creme looks so delicious! i just want to grab it from the screen!
ReplyDeleteHello- So that picture of the cover of playboy is my Aunt Darene- my father's sister. She died of breast cancer at the age of 44 and she was the first African American woman on the cover of playboy. It amazes me how many times that cover shows up in different places. Where did you take this picture? I wish I could go and buy that magazine as my family only have a precious few left of them. Anyways just thought I'd share.
ReplyDeletelove love love
ReplyDeleteI've been to Stockholm a couple times because a friend of mine studies there. It's a beautiful city. I really want to go to Iceland myself AND one dream vacation of mine is definitely BALI!
ReplyDelete:)
S*
I would love love love to visit Stockholm someday -- please share some of your favorite things to do and see!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend checking out Krisatomic's blog for all things Icelandic-holiday. Her recent trip has really sealed my desire to travel there asap...
thank you :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story!!! I actually took that picture on the streets of Paris, and that was just another old book/magazine vendor on the sidewalk alone the Seine.... I wish I could give you more specifics, but it was nearly 3 years ago!
ReplyDeleteI remember that drink very clearly! I think the photo does it justice :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Madrid is beautiful!!! And I'm so excited to see your photos from your upcoming trip to Mexico! Summer really is around the corner....
ReplyDeleteI'd LOVE to know what you did/saw in Stockholm... I'm intimidated by all the beautiful people there, I must admit!
YES PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteB, I appreciate this so much!!! I'm going to agree with all your travel destinations... I'd love to go to Marrakech and Cinque Terre! I think my ideal situation would be to get a commission to write a series of travel books, and just live out of a suitcase for months at a time.... A girl can dream!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda!! I'd love to hear some of your favorite things in Helsinki and Stockholm!! I'm strongly considering making the trip over in late August...!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, I should send you a batch to draw over :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I hope you're enjoying your Berlin adventure!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true about Paris - every corner has so much history and such character to it. The buildings are one of my favorite things about paris -- the colors of apartments and museums and sidewalks... Can you tell I miss it? I have a habit of romanticizing everything about Paris...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christina!! I'd love to hear about things to do in Stockholm!
ReplyDeletei've literally left NYC once so far this year, and that was to go to my hometown (LA), which for whatever reason never feels like much of a break or vacation.... It's very strange. It's nice to venture out through old photos and through other peoples blogs, though! But really, I NEED TO GO TO CHICAGO ASAP.
ReplyDeleteWhere along the Italian cost?? I loved Capri and Amalfi and Positano, less than liked Naples!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! Checking out your blog, now :)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are all old, too! Like 3 years + old!!
ReplyDeleteI've gotten better since, promise....
You should remember ALL of them...!! Love you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Morgaine! That's the funny thing about travel... Once you get out of your home-base, you just crave more and more of it! I'm always planning my next vacation while I'm on one!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh I have SO MANY PLACES AND THINGS AND STORES AND RESTAURANTS to send you too... SO MANY.
ReplyDeleteI am incredibly lucky!!
ReplyDeleteHave you been to either of them?? I'm dying to get all the recommendations I can before making the plunge!
Please tell me everything about Helsinki!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere in England are you moving? I've spent a lot of time in London, so if you need any recommendations, let me know!
I've been really lucky to do quite a bit of traveling, I'm super super grateful for the experience and opportunities!!
ReplyDeleteEven in a small English city -- the rest of Europe is so (relatively) accessible. I'm always astounded when my UK-based friends tell me about the airfares they come across for all over Europe... Jealousy inducing, really.
These are my photos from my europe trip http://www.flickr.com/photos/perfectperfect/3605473385/in/set-72157619407285386 I couldn't find a way to only link the Stockholm ones!
ReplyDeleteStockholm was super walking friendly, and their metro is incredibly easy and went everywhere. We went to a museum called the Vasa museet and it housed a GIANT ship from the 1600 that sunk on its maiden voyage and was perfectly preserved until it was exhumed in the '60s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasa_Museum
The city is a bunch of small islands connected by bridges, some small enough for you to walk around in no time.
City was spectacularly clean, everyone spoke English, the sun didn't go down til 11pm (even later into the summer, we went in May).
There were several shopping places with awesome stores. There was this strange homegoods store called Lagerhaus that had the quirkiest awesome things! (But I had zero suitcase space for any souvenirs). There is a Cheap Monday store, suuuuuuper cheap, it's called MTWTF Weekdays, and it has a vintage store underneath it. I keep hearing awesome things about a store called Beyond Retro.
The food situation was kind of strange - street food consisted of this weird tortilla crepe concoction with a hotdog weiner and mashed potatoes. There was a lot of middle eastern/gyro food there.
Exquisite photos and even more exquisite blog! You are an inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteHugs from your fan in Paris xx
