I was very excited to be invited to the opening of New York City's first Ladurée, one of my favorite French institutions and purveyor of the macaron! Once something I longed for when visiting my favorite European cities (Paris, of course, and London), it's exciting (and a little scary) to think there's now a world of perfect pastel colored pastries just a train ride away. Really, whoever had the idea of opening Ladurée barely a week before the start of New York Fashion Week had something mischievous up their sleeve! Head over to Vogue.it to read all about America's first Ladurée location, along with my interview with the company's chairman, David Holder! But first, enjoy the eye candy...
Ladurée NYC is located at 864 Madison Avenue. Bon appétit!
i know they are from paris! i know people who went to paris to lear how to make macarons! they are actually too sweet for me! i am more of a biscuit lady! but you are so right about the eye candy! there is nothing more good looking as a macaron! i love the sweet bakery pastel atmosphere, and i am sure that it triggers something in our brain! those are the uber wanted girly candy treat
I am jealous! I am curious to know how it compares (with regard to atmosphere) with the Parisienne one? But NYC is my favourite city so I am pleased to know there is a Laduree there!
I don't even need to tell you that this is pure food/macaron porn to me! What gorgeous, gorgeous pictures!! And you're right, it is kind of dangerous (in a way, I'm glad there isn't one in Cambridge because then I can save it for really special days in London as a treat). And I've never bought that big box before (I have no self control when it comes to le macaron and would just gobble them all up, thus have to limit myself to the box of 8), but oh my, it is beautiful!
Oh wow. Can't wait to come to NY and eat those scrumpious macaroons. Also I will look forward for their LA opening. Fantastic pictures Nikki as always. I feel theyre right in front of me ans just wantto grab one. I ll take a pistachio and a coconut one and you can have a lavender on me darling.
