Leather Weather is Better Than Sweater Weather

If there is one piece of clothing that I could never live without, it is a great leather jacket. I've long lamented the fact that I couldn't wear my favorite leather bits year round, but I finally found a longer length leather jacket that's lined with Thinsulate to be wearable through even the colder months of the year, (and the leather itself is so buttery soft... Definitely one of the softest leather garments I've ever owned. Not exaggerating). I also love the little details - from the lapels to the buttoned shoulders and yoke. I'm definitely swooning... And if you are, too, the jacket is on sale now at Wilsons!
It also feels important to talk about my skirt, because, if for no other reason, I've had a long, complicated relationship with light colors, especially white. Being a bigger girl practically my whole life has lead to being told that wearing white would only "make me look bigger" - something I've been listening to for years. It's taken a bit of re-learning to work my mind around something that I've been conditioned to believe for so long. Anyways, I think it looks great - and it's a great, bright balance to the black jacket and mostly-grey weather.

How do you wear your leather year-round??

  1. That scarf is so cute! And I love leather year round also. I think my leather shorts will be my year round leather.

  2. I agree!
I prefer "fur" (not real fur) to leather tho. But you look great!

  3. Yes, I agree. I too can't live without a good fitting leather jacket. I have three that I love. A butter soft one I got from Macys a few years ago and a multi zippered biker style from Jessica London. The third one is a Vanson leather that I got when I interned at a motorcycle mag. They sent the whole office jackets.
I also like to wear mine with skirts but like my leathers best over girlie dresses. You're always so chic. BTW-I don't get to see you at events much, but you are doing a good job with the Marie Claire column.

  14. white, black i don't care it looks perfect! love this look because it is so hard to dress sophisticated in the winter! this is like sophisticated, stylish, casual, fashionable at the same time! i think the white looks perfect because it is not too white. huge fan of that green scarf, it looks amazing with your red hair and it really pops up! and yes, of course, the shoes: perfection

  20. you look amazing. my leather jacket is not the warmest (it was quite cheap) but i'll like to make it last longer in the season by just layering A TON inside.

  23. I love leather jackets but that would be totally ridiculous to wear in Nigeria since it is always hot.
