I See Brooklyn, I See France...

After a particularly rough week, I couldn't have asked for more than to spend the entire weekend with some of my favorite people and best friends. Trust that despite my best efforts to always view the world through rose-colored lenses, even I sometimes go through a rough patch. Who knew, but it turns out even all the glittery shoes and sparkly jewels still can't make a girl defenseless over a break-up! I'm so grateful for good friends and good adventures. The weekend was a mixture of the best company, a lot of delicious food, good cocktails (it's Pimms Cup season, after all),  dancing to soul music in Brooklyn with some lovely ladies, going 3-in into a photobooth, dying Easter Eggs in my go-to neighborhood haunt during happy hour, treking from Park Slope to the Upper East Side and Back to Williamsburg with P.Y.T. Luxirare... I could go on, and on, and on, but suffice to say it was a really fantastic weekend. Never, ever, ever take your friendships for granted. They're everything.

Luxirare and I started our Sunday by heading to Park Slope for brunch. Our original plan was to dine at Blue Ribbon, but much to my dismay it was closed! It ended up being a good thing because it gave me a chance to find a new spot in the neighborhood, so we walked down 5th Avenue (Brooklyn), and found ourselves at Cafe Moutarde, a French bistro with crave-worthy eclairs and baguettes garnishing the windows. We shared the escargot (my first time trying this dish, and I have to say I actually loved it), sipped on champagne, and while Ji opted for a steak, I went for a classic French Omelette. Perfect brunch, indeed!

Jacket - Topshop, Woven Pocket Tee - ASOS Curve, Skirt - Zara, Heels - Urban Outfitters ($20! and SO ridiculously comfortable!), Sequin Purse - Miu Miu via Net-a-Porter (Photos of my by Luxirare)

Of course, Luxi and I had to head uptown for some macarons (we were very determined, and even a sudden rainstorm could not deter us), especially as the collaboration between Hello Kitty and Ladurée had just launched. How cute are these boxes?!

A little window shopping outside Céline before heading home for macarons and a glass of wine with Luxirare and an evening of Mad Men... Maybe the perfect day ever.

Deeply sorry to hear about your break up,but I know NY is a city with good taste and I'm sure a gem like you won't be single for long! Well, that is unless you want to just have some girl fun for a while, à la Cindy Lauper in the 80s... ;)
You look stunning,I especially love the mint skirt,so on trend for spring.
A big Italian hug (yes, they're much better than common hugs! ;) ) from Rome.

  12. I am a true BK girl. Born and raised. I keep trying to tell people, Brooklyn is the place to be. We have tons of great places to eat, drink, and shop at without going to Manhattan. Parkslope is definitely one of my fave places to hangout.

The outfit is super cute and I am sucker for a cropped leather jacket with dresses and skirts.

  17. An adventure off into the world, I've found, is one of the best ways to make yourself feel better about parting with someone. It allows you to see the rest of the beautiful world outside of the world you knew with that person. Despite everything, you look great. I love the sequin bag - if anything at least looks happy, it's a sequin bag.

  18. absolutely nothing beats good friendship! looks like a weekend of adventures & delights - one thing about a breakup is that it (imho) can encourage an interest in discovering new things & learning more about yourself - a bit of "me" time well deserved :)

  23. Oh honey, I'm so sorry about your breakup (you are so right that even those of us with the rosiest of outlooks hit a few bad batches that bump those pink glasses right off from time to time). I know you'll come out stronger and even more fabulous than before, and so glad you have some great friends around you to help you through it (this day sounds like the best possible way to cheer yourself up).

    Thinking of you! Briony xx

  27. hi Nicole, very sorry to hear about your breakup! but I'm glad you made the most of your weekend, it sounds nice!
not to be too personal, but may I ask your waist and hip measurements and the sizing of that skirt? I haven't been to Zara for years now because I always assume they won't have anything in my size, but seeing that amazing skirt on you gives me hope! thank you xx

  28. Adel, if you are looking for plus sizes, Zara sells select items in XL and XXL on their US website.  Their XXL fits more like an XL would in other stores.

  29. Wow! I just found you on IFB and I'm so impressed with the scope and photographic quality of your blog. Gorgeous! And I love how you rocked that blue skirt. I threw a similar take a couple of weeks ago but I think I'm in love with yours! Gonna attempt a re-do! At any rate, great job! Excited to be following!
