Yesterday, the heat in New York was pretty unbearable. After a morning full day of running around on showroom appointments (checking out covetables from Catbird, Gentle Souls Shoes, Chantelle among others), I was completely exhausted by the time I got home. Even though I felt cute in the outfit I wore during the day, it was completely weather inappropriate - and add on the many bags I was carrying by 6 pm (a fringe benefit of my job: lots of presents; yes, I'm spoiled), the moment I walked into my central-AC-blessed apartment, all I wanted to do was rip my clothes off and crash on my couch.
Then the opportunity arose to join my S.O. to meet with friends, both of whom had been on a road trip for over 8-weeks. How could I say no to stories of Wyoming's landscape and the homes in Minneapolis and Vonnegut-style-wanderlust-inducing images of the piping hot hood of a car with miles of road ahead? A quick outfit change, a swipe of Ruby Woo, and a few minutes later, I was out the door.
I've basically been looking for any excuse to wear this sweater, despite the fact that it, too, has been highly weather inappropriate. Mostly, it has been paraded within the confines of my apartment (there's that Central AC, again), but a quick neighborhood jaunt as the sun wound down seemed a good enough excuse. Staying with my obsession of all things lip and lipstick print (that's femme realness, for you), I put together a wishlist of other smooch-worthy goods.

1. Markus Lupfer Printed Cotton T-Shirt, $145. 2. Stila All Day Liquid Color, $22. Dries matte, literally stays all day, and is the closest thing to "kiss proof" that I have ever found. 3. Lips Flask, $24. 4. Charlotte Olympia Bisoux Leopard Toe Flats, $695. Be still my heart. Currently the number 1 shoe on my list for fall. 5. Smooch Lip Frame Glasses, $2.99. 6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Phone Case, $34. 7. Sonia Rykiel Embellished Jersey T-Shirt, $275. 8. Lulu Guinness Perspex Clutch, $394. Yes, yes; this again. It's one of the items on my "forever" wishlist. 9. Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations Lips Journal, $12.95.
Psst, if you're craving that lips sweater, run - don't walk. ASOS has 20% off now with the code "NEW20".

I respect you pressing thru the heat and wearing this DARLING sweater anyway! The things we do for fashion...
ReplyDeleteI love how you embrace the playful cute patterns. You are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think lip prints are officially my new favorite print because of this post.
ReplyDeleteI love this set. Everything you touch is so cute! I really think I'm going to have to get this sweater before it sells out!
ReplyDeleteI'm relieved to see I'm not the only one disregarding weather for the sake of fashion. I live in Miami and am often faced with this conundrum. Ultimately, fashion generally wins but not without my suffering through it. Still, I wore dark denim in July and still stand by my choice.
ReplyDeleteLOVE. Every year around this time my best friend and I "boycott summer." We wear all our cute fall fashion that we just can't wait to bust out! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove your style .Your outfit color is so beautiful and love your hair color and your bag.
