{Wanderlust} Going Sleeveless & Tropical!

My second destination in Thailand on my winter holiday was Phuket -- a city I've only ever dreamed about or caught glimpses of in Leonardo DiCaprio movies. Coming to a tropical climate was the perfect escape from New York's brutal winter, and I can't think of a better place to shed my warm, wooly layers and soak in some much needed Vitamin D. I feel so lucky to have had this escape; I was leaving behind a lot of turmoil and chaos in New York... Something I've debated writing about here. It's hard to know where the line should be kept between personal and public with a platform like this, but suffice to say: love is hard. The change of scenery has done me really, really well...!

{OUTFIT}
Top: Dorothy Perkins (old), Skirt: SimplyBe (old), Belt: ASOS Curve, Purse: See by Chloe, Shoes: Kimchi Blue, Necklaces: Emeralds from Thailand, Gold & Pearls borrowed from my mom. Bracelets: Julie Nolan Astrological Cuff via CatBird, Miu Miu. Rings: Asha by ADM Zodiac Ring (gift), David Yurman, Tiffany & Co.

And, it seems that my underarm prep (with help from Dove
gosleeveless Soothing Chamomile Deodorant), has really paid off - especially in this warmer climate where sleeves and layers are practically verboten! According to the good people at Dove,
78% of women maintain or increase their underarm care habits in the fall and winter -- something I know to be true of myself, since the cold, dry weather in the Northeast parches my skin everywhere on my body, without discrimination. Honestly, before starting this project with Dove, I hadn't even given much thought to the care that goes into my underarms because it has become so compulsory and second nature -- and I've been a fan of their products for their
Dove 1/4 moisturizers for years. The new gosleeveless product just takes it a step further. It keeps my sweat away while still moisturizing, and leaves an invisible finish -- all things that are pretty essential whether I'm sleeveless by necessity here in Thailand or getting rid of a few layers at my New Years Eve festivities when I'm back in NYC!

This post is part two of two of a series sponsored by Dove.

  23. oh no! i really appreciate you pointing this out because it was honestly just a matter of human error. i edited the copy and added images (the second batch of photos) before posting, and the disclosure fell off. this was part 2 of a series and i had fully disclosed on the first one, and did the same for this -- before the edit where, apparently, i let it run off without catching it. it's added back in! thank you!

  27. I saw your column in Marie Clarie and had to check out your blog. You have wonderful taste and take beautiful photographs. I am glad you representing fashionable larger ladies. However, I would also hope to see some health/fitness related posts that encourage bigger women to stay healthy and fit (IE inspirational posts about food to eat and work outs to try that arent super hard on the joints, etc). I am all for body acceptance seeing that I have struggled with weight issues due to hypothyroidism but I also wish there was more awareness on blogs about how unhealthy and life threatening it can be in the long run to be overweight, especially in the middle area. It would be awesome to see you a health-fitness related post sometime. XO

  28. Dear Katharine: jeez louise, stop with the concern trolling already! Nicolette is gorgeous and amazing, can you not just leave it at that, without having to--in an atrociously misinformed way--spread fear and hate of fat people? Your information, Katharine, is dead wrong: it's not unhealthy and life threatening to be overweight. Over a hundred studies just proved it, it's a major news story just THIS WEEK--here is the link:

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/02/health/overweight-mortality/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_living+%28RSS%3A+Living%29

    Please get a copy of Health at Every Size and stop spreading more hate for fat people under the guise of "health concerns."

    Yours truly

  30. Thanks for your reply and link. I didn't mean to insult anyone, especially not Nicolette. I agree that she is gorgeous and amazing. I am merely suggesting that it would be nice to see a post on fitness/health on a popular blog such as this CONSIDERING the negative connotations associated with being overweight - IE popular belief that individuals who are overweight do not work out nor eat healthy. it would also be nice to see what Nicolette does in this department as a form of INSPIRATION not hate. I noticed the CNN article stated that being overweight has been shown to be okay but not obese. There are different factors that determine whether someone is simply overweight (which I have no problem with concerning I am 15 pounds overweight) and obese which has been proven countless times over the years to be unhealthy. Secondly you're the one calling overweight people "FAT". the word itself has so much hate attached to it. Please consider my opinion as I have concerned yours.
